# A post-production company grows from 8 people to 100 on IOPStor storage

Eight people passing files from hand to hand became a hundred across video editing, 3D and After Effects, working from IOPStor storage that gives each department its own pool and its own bandwidth.

## Challenge

The company ran its editing software with eight people, and files moved from one person to the next by hand. It was inconvenient, and it did not scale: the more people they added, the more hand-offs every file needed. Whatever replaced it also had to be fast, because several editors would be working on the same server at the same time.

## Solution

IOPStor gave them a NAS, so every file lived in one place and everyone worked from it, built for the throughput of several editors on the same server at once. The company grew, and took on 3D and After Effects work alongside video editing. IOPStor then split the same NAS into three pools, one for each department, and gave each pool two 10 GbE connections of its own, six in all. Video editing, 3D and After Effects each have their own bandwidth, so no department waits on another. As the work grew, the same NAS was upgraded from the 48 TB they started with to 240 TB.

## Results

The company grew from eight people to a hundred across three departments, with no slowdown and no chokepoint. Everyone can work smoothly, and the NAS they started with grew five times over, from 48 TB to 240 TB, without ever being replaced.

- **8 to 100** — people, all working from the same NAS
- **48 TB to 240 TB** — of storage, five times what the NAS started with
- **6 x 10G** — connections, two for each department's pool

IOPStor replaced it with a 100 TB NAS and a single compute node, protected by snapshots and a disaster-recovery system that keeps a copy offsite in the cloud.
